Port Hueneme (pronounced "Wy-nee-mee") is a seaside community whose original Chumash Indian name, Wenemu, means "resting place." Port Hueneme is home to one of only two Naval Construction Battalion Centers in the United States and the only deep water harbor between Los Angeles and San Francisco serving the Pacific Rim and Europe and is the trade gateway to California’s Central Coast. Among the many advantages to doing business in Port Hueneme are a two week turnaround policy for plan check and permit issuance on tenant improvements and a retail tenant incentive program where the City waives plan check and permit costs for qualifying businesses (up to $1,500).
